Neshanic Valley Golf Course is the flagship facility
of the five-course Somerset County Park Commission system. The 27-hole
Championship Course, the 9-hole Academy Course, the Learning Center,
and the Callaway Golf Performance Center were designed to accommodate
the needs of golfers of all abilities.
Neshanic Valley has been carved out of 420 acres of rolling Branchburg,
New Jersey farmland. Designed by Hurdzan/Fry Golf Course Design, the
course covers 350 acres with 70 acres designated for future park usage.
Course construction preserves existing land features and takes full advantage
of the existing topography. Each
of the championship (par 36) nine-hole courses, The Lake, The Ridge,
and The Meadow, features five tees with
the 18-hole layouts ranging from 5,050 yards to 7,108 yards. Rolling
fairways, tees, and greens are creeping bentgrass, and the putting surfaces
are well-guarded by large bunkers. An ample amount of fescue is found
off the fairways and
and environmentally sensitive wetland areas come into play throughout
the course. The greens
have been designed with subtle undulations to increase the challenge of
play. Electric carts will travel the 8.9 miles of paved cart paths.
The challenging par 32 nine-hole Academy Course plays from 1, 420 yards
to 2,019 yards and offers three tees on each hole, with five par four holes
and four par threes. Tees and fairways are mix of bluegrass and fescue,
and greens are Penncross creeping bentgrass.
The 12,000 square foot Clubhouse has a fully stocked Pro
Shop featuring brand name equipment and golf apparel. The Grille Room
provides golfers with sandwiches and snacks to go, and an opportunity to
enjoy a cocktail and meal while socializing after a round of golf. The
second floor Banquet Room is available for outings, banquets, and community
events. It is complemented by an outdoor deck with a 270-degree view of
the golf course, the historic Neshanic Valley, and the nearby Sourland
